1920’s

Let’s go back to a time when jazz was king and flapper’s abounded. F. Scott Fitzgerald mesmerized millions, when he described life in the 1920’s. Today we are still fascinated by the rich culture and suaveness of this time period. Movies romanticize the time period and people try to relive it through party themes. Our next collaboration will embody the time! Enjoy as you’re transported back in time…

Ellie Mendez Photography captures this amazing journey through time.

The back drop to this impressive scene? James Ward Mansion in beautiful Westfield, NJ. This magnificent estate could house Jay Gatsby himself with luxury from beginning to end.

Our fantastic hair and makeup artisan’s transform our already beautiful models into goddesses befitting the time period.

Amanda, hair stylist, reported creating the flower girl’s look by styling with loose curls. Her hair piece really captures the 1920’s feel with her symmetrical Bob hairstyle. This bride has naturally long, thick, beautiful, healthy hair. Amanda set her hair in big barrel curls to keep them from drooping throughout the event. She then styled her with Victorian curls to frame her bold, striking makeup and to extenuate the gatsby vintage style of her dress and hair piece.

Katlyn enhances our bride’s look with makeup. It was important to have that Gatsby feel, but a bit more natural. To achieve this, Katlyn used a beautiful champagne shimmer on the lids and smoked out the crease with a dark brown shadow. These lashes were more light and wispy. Katlyn also mixed a pink and peach blush to keep it fresh, while the lip adorned a light pink lipstick, and topped it with a nude shimmery gloss to finish the look.

Finally, accessories that appear to be right from the history books were placed. Head pieces provided by My Dream Wedding by Ruth. Adorned by gold and white these models are breath taking. The bridal grown provided by Seng Couture, and jewelry provided by Work of Hands.

One of my favorite quotes by the talented F. Scott Fitzgerald sums up the personification of the 1920’s/Gatsby theme…

“And I like large parties. They’re so intimate. At small parties there isn’t any privacy.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

In honor of large parties, let’s continue creating the Great Gatsby theme in our lives. Use this inspiring photo shoot to make our future weddings and parties!

Please join me next week to see where this journey takes us. While you wait for the next portion, meet those who contributed to this great styled shoot and follow them on social media! Thank you for reading.
